I began my theatre career in college and have worked with children’s theatre as an actor, technician, and an education specialist. I also taught in the Highline School District for 16 years as a high school drama teacher and have been teaching middle school drama and ELA in the Seattle School District since 2016. I love working with kids and getting them excited about what they can do and learn. My passion project with students has always been about making safe spaces for all where respect, acceptance, and kindness are the keys to community. I am excited to be working with Whistles and Bells as an educator /puppeteer and I hope to bring tremendous excitement to the camp.
As a teaching artist, I love facilitating studio classes and workshops. It makes my day to work with others in an inclusive atmosphere where creating and collaborating is energizing, and where skills and confidence are built. I believe that art making is life giving! I taught in the Highline Public School District for 10 years as a studio art and art history teacher, and as part of a collaborative global studies team. I also work professionally as an artist, making paintings, fine art books, small metal work, and illustrations. I donate my time to build visual components for community art projects, including giant puppets and other street theatre and parade art. I am looking forward to working with Whistles and Bells as an educator and visual arts specialist.
